My December in Latvia was pretty busy but very nice.
To summarize, I had two projects going on during December till Christmas.
One Project was my "Advent Calendar" -Project.
The last November-days I made an Advent Calendar with the kids and we put it on the wall.
Than, everyday till Christmas we sat in a circle on the floor and read a Christmas story. After that, we opened the wicket, in which a note with an activity for everyday was. We made crafts and Christmas cards and decorated the daycenter for Christmas.
My personal highlight was the "memory Christmastree" out of pictures of the last few years.
In general, I was surprised that we really managed to do an activity everday, even if sometimes only a few kids participated because many of them still had school stress and exams to write.
I really enjoyed this project, it was an amazing pre-Christmas period.
With another German intern together we organized another project.
We prepared a small Christmas concert with some girls who come to the daycenter on a regular basis. Every Thursday, we had rehearsels to prepare a German, English and Latvian Christmassong.
The concert on the 21.December was overwhelming. Some parents came and we had a very comfortable and touching evening.
All in all, my Christmas time in Latvia was really nice. I am very happy that I had this nice experience to celebrate Christmas in another country.
